September 1st -I have found a newly mated Lasius neoniger queen and have decided to make a journal!I have her in a testtube setup I'll keep you updated.
Januray 15/2010 -Queens eggs are still eggs although she laid even more! She has to be one of the best queens i have had in my life.I'm thinking about naming her.I'm open for suggestions!Anyway the queen is doing good and has some brood now all i need are larvae then i'll think about making her a small setup so she and her workers can move into when they emerge.

Time for some sad yet great news!
February 1/2010-Eeek i got mold so i had to move her lost all the brood But in one night she laid 5-6 eggs![I never can count eggs that well.]Anyway couldn't be more happy for her!So how long does it take ant eggs to hatch?Just for everyones information the species is Lasius Neoniger.

No the eggs hatch pretty fast a few days in my experiance....it's the larvae stage that takes for ever.

Nice that happend to me, she lays loads and only 10-20 survive to full larvae stage.
